The Face of Abortion!
BCN hosted the LifeChain on Saturday, 7 November 2009 in Randburg (Johannesburg), South Africa on the corner of Bram Fischer and Peter Place. Apart from standing on the intersection of these two roads, we also stood in front of the Marie Stopes Clinic: Reproductive Health Center. Or rather, Abortion Mill Center!
It was also the first time that someone actually stopped to, not so much debate the issue of abortion, but to shout at us for being anti-abortion, instead of doing something about abandoned babies. This lady works for the Department of Child Welfare. In her mind, it is a pointless exercise to protest against abortion while babies are abandoned in dumpsters in our country. While that truly is a sad fact of South African society, the abortion issue is separate from this issue. Of course, to this woman the solution to abandoned babies is to kill them before they are born. Of course, the answer is not death or abandonment, but rather adoption.
